Dassia is a resort on the east coast of Corfu, about 12 km north of the airport. The drive follows the coast road through Kontokali, Gouvia and Ypsos, taking 20 to 25 minutes. The coast road is the main route north and is congested in the summer evening, with a long strip of hotels and tavernas along it. The area is flat, with the hills of Pantokrator rising inland.
Dassia is a strip of hotels, tavernas and shops along the main road, with a pebbly beach and a wooded hillside behind. Gouvia marina lies to the south and Ypsos to the north. The main road has no pedestrian zone, so the car can stop at the hotel entrances. Corfu town is about 20 minutes away by bus, and boat trips to Albania and Paxos leave from the nearby ports. Mount Pantokrator, the highest point on the island, is a drive of about 40 minutes inland.
