Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Olbia Costa Smeralda terminal, just after the baggage reclaim exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Porto Cervo is the best-known village of the Costa Smeralda, built from the 1960s around a sheltered inlet on the north-east coast. From the airport the route goes north through Olbia on the SS125 Orientale Sarda, then turns onto provincial roads SP73 and SP94 through the green hills of the coast to Abbiadori, and finally the SP59 down to the village. The roads are winding in places, and in July and August, especially at weekends, traffic around Porto Cervo and the beaches slows down noticeably.
The heart of the village is the Piazzetta, a small pedestrian square with arcades and shops, linked by steps and passages to the Sottopiazza and the old harbour. Above it stands the white church of Stella Maris. The Marina of Porto Cervo, with berths for large yachts, lies on the opposite side of the inlet. Hotels and villas are scattered along the coast nearby, towards Cala di Volpe, Liscia di Vacca and the Pevero golf course, so the driver goes straight to the hotel entrance or the nearest drop-off point for the Piazzetta.
Public transport instead: Sun Lines bus Costa Smeralda line (seasonal) from Olbia Airport, platform 6/7 to Porto Cervo (via Olbia port, Porto Rotondo, Portisco, Capriccioli, Abbiadori), 4 departures a day from the airport (09:00, 12:20, 16:00, 18:20), 1 June - 30 September 2024. Outside June-September the airport lists no direct bus to Porto Cervo.
