Perissa is a beach resort on the south-east coast of Santorini, about 8 km from the airport, a drive of 10 to 15 minutes. The route runs south via Emporio or around the Mesa Vouno hill from Kamari. The roads are narrow in the villages, and parking along the seafront fills up in July and August. Perissa lies below the same hill as Kamari, on the other side.
Perissa has a long black volcanic beach lined with tavernas, bars and hotels along the promenade. Perissa and Perivolos beaches merge into one long strip to the south. The Ancient Thera hill rises behind, and the Byzantine church of Panagia Episkopi stands inland. Hotels are along the main road and the beach road, so the car can stop at their entrances. Fira is about 15 km north, a drive of 25 minutes.
