Platanias is a coastal area on the south coast of Skiathos, a little past the halfway point between the town and Koukounaries, and its beach is usually called Agia Paraskevi. From the airport the road leads through Skiathos Town and then west along the main south-coast road, passing above the bays of Achladies, Kanapitsa and Kolios, about 10 km in total. Allow roughly 15 to 25 minutes. Summer afternoons are slower, when beach traffic, scooters and buses share the narrow sections of the road.
Agia Paraskevi beach is a long stretch of sand in a sheltered bay, with sunbeds along the shore and several larger beach hotels set directly behind it, some with gardens reaching down to the sand. Other hotels and apartments are spread over the slopes on both sides of the main road, which runs a short distance inland from the beach. Kolios beach lies just to the east, while Troulos is a few bus stops further west. Koukounaries is roughly 4 km further along the same road, at the end of the line.
