Bansko from Sofia Airport (SOF) by private transfer: €130 per car (1–3 people) or €180 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 177 km via A 3 and 19, roughly 2h 20min when traffic is light and 2h 20min – 2h 50min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2), after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Bansko is a mountain town and ski resort at the foot of the Pirin range in south-west Bulgaria, about 165 km from the airport. The usual route leaves Sofia on the ring road, follows the Struma motorway south past Pernik and Dupnitsa towards Blagoevgrad, then turns east near Simitli onto the road over the Predela pass, which leads down through Razlog to Bansko. Bulgarian motorways and national roads require an electronic vignette. In winter, snow on the Predela pass and ski-season weekend traffic can slow the last part of the drive.
Bansko has two faces: the old town of stone houses, taverns and the Holy Trinity Church around Nikola Vaptsarov Square, and the newer hotel district stretching south towards the lower station of the gondola that lifts skiers into the Pirin National Park. Most hotels can be reached directly by car, while the lanes of the old town are narrow and partly pedestrian, so drop-offs there are made on the nearest open street. The ski season usually runs from December to April; in summer the town is a base for hiking in the Pirin mountains.
Public transport instead: Metropolitan Sofia metro M4 + M2 from Sofia Airport metro station (Terminal 2) to Central Railway Station (change at Serdika); Central Bus Station is next to it, €0.80 single ticket, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Bansko. The metro (M4, change to M2 at Serdika) reaches Sofia Central Railway Station and the Central Bus Station next to it, where onward intercity connections to the Pirin area start.
