Bardolino lies on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, about 29 kilometres north-west of the airport, at the foot of the hills that give their name to the local red wine. The road heads north on the SP26 through Sommacampagna and Bussolengo, takes the SP5 towards Lazise and then follows the SR249 Gardesana along the lake into town, without motorway tolls. On summer weekends the Gardesana can be slow near Lazise and Gardaland. The lakefront and the old town centre are largely pedestrian, so drop-offs are made on the nearest street open to cars.
The compact old town of Bardolino spreads behind the harbour, around Piazza Matteotti and the Romanesque church of San Severo, with the lakeside promenade running north towards Garda and south towards the hamlet of Cisano and Lazise. Hotels line the Gardesana and the hills above, where Calmasino and the vineyards of the Bardolino wine area begin. The ferry pier in the centre connects with other lake towns, and the town is busiest from spring to early autumn, when many hotels and lakeside restaurants are open.
Public transport instead: ATV (Azienda Trasporti Verona) bus Verona Airlink from Verona Airport, stop at the arrivals-side exit to Verona Porta Nuova railway station (forecourt), €7.00 single ticket, daily, every 20 min at peak times and every 40 min otherwise; from the airport 05:35-23:10. ATV (Azienda Trasporti Verona) bus 164 from Verona Stazione FS (bay C1) to Bardolino — about 61–64 min, about 10 runs Monday-Saturday and 4-8 on public holidays (winter timetable from 10 September 2026), 1 change. ATV (Azienda Trasporti Verona) bus 482 + 483 from Aeroporto V. Catullo to Bardolino, seasonal: daily until 18 October 2026 and from 21 March 2027; line 482 hourly from the airport, line 483 hourly from Peschiera, 1 change.
