Getting from Varna Airport (VAR) to Albena takes about 40 min by car on an empty road (40–55 min in heavy traffic) over 37 km via 902. Our private transfer costs €55 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €80 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of Terminal 2 at Varna Airport, after immigration, baggage reclaim and the exit to the public hall, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Albena is a purpose-built resort about 30 km north of Varna, already in Dobrich Province and part of the Balchik municipality. From the airport the route heads north past Golden Sands and joins the coastal main road towards Balchik, then turns down to the sea at Albena; Kranevo lies just before it. The road is about 37 km long and has no tolls. On summer weekends and changeover days the section between Varna and the resort turn-offs carries heavy holiday traffic.
Albena was built from the late 1960s as a single resort, with terraced hotel blocks set in greenery behind a broad sandy beach that slopes gently into the sea. Hotels are spread along internal roads between the main entrance and the beach, and cars can reach the hotel entrances. Just south of the resort lies the Baltata reserve, a protected riverside forest, and the village of Kranevo with smaller guesthouses. Balchik and its palace gardens are about 12 km further north along the coast.
Public transport: No direct public transport from the airport: the airport's official information lists only city bus 409 (to Varna centre and Golden Sands). Line 409 stops at Varna central bus station (Avtogara), where regional services along the coast start, but no official timetable for a connection to Albena was found.
