Golden Sands from Varna Airport (VAR) by private transfer: €45 per car (1–3 people) or €65 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 25 km via 9 and 2, roughly 35 min when traffic is light and 35–45 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals area of Terminal 2 at Varna Airport, after immigration, baggage reclaim and the exit to the public hall, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi) is the largest resort on the northern Bulgarian coast, about 17 km north of Varna city centre and part of the Varna municipality. From the airport the road either crosses the city or skirts it to the north and then follows the coast road past Euxinograd, the university botanical garden and the resort of St. Constantine and Helena. The full trip is around 25 km by road. In July and August traffic builds up on the coast road and at the resort entrances, especially on arrival days.
The resort is a long strip of hotels set between a wide sandy beach and the wooded hills of the Golden Sands Nature Park. A pedestrian promenade runs behind the beach for most of its length, with the marina at the northern end. Hotels are reached by internal roads from the main street above the beach, while the promenade itself is closed to cars. The Aladzha rock monastery lies in the forest of the nature park a few kilometres inland. Outside the summer season many hotels close and the resort is quiet.
Public transport instead: Varna city public transport bus 409 from Varna Airport (stop in front of Terminal 2 Arrivals) to Golden Sands resort stops (Chayka to Republika) — about 50–63 min, the airport states the wait should not exceed 15 minutes; ticket bought on board.
