Tarazona lies about 105 km north-west of the airport, at the foot of the Moncayo massif near the border with Navarre. The route follows the Ebro valley up past Alagón and Gallur, on the N-232 or the parallel AP-68 toll motorway, then turns west on the N-122 past Borja and the vineyards of the Campo de Borja wine area. The Moncayo, the highest peak of the Iberian System, dominates the view on the final stretch. Snow can reach the Moncayo foothills in winter.
Tarazona's old town rises in terraces above the Queiles river. The cathedral of Santa María de la Huerta stands in the lower part of the town, close to the old octagonal bullring whose arcades were turned into houses. Higher up are the episcopal palace, the hanging houses of the former Jewish quarter and the town hall with its sculpted facade. The streets of the upper town are steep and narrow, so cars stop at the edge. The Cistercian monastery of Veruela lies about 15 km away.
Public transport instead: Consorcio de Transportes del Área de Zaragoza (CTAZ) bus 505 Zaragoza - Aeropuerto from Zaragoza Airport terminal to Zaragoza-Delicias intermodal station (train and coach station), timetable based on the airport's flight schedule. Therpasa coach Zaragoza - Tarazona from Zaragoza (Delicias coach station) to Tarazona (Avenida Navarra), 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Tarazona and no railway: take bus 505 to Zaragoza-Delicias, then a Therpasa coach to Tarazona.
