Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport (BCN) is 14 km by road from Plaça de Catalunya. The Aerobús runs there directly from both terminals around the clock; the metro and the train are cheaper but need a change or a shuttle.
Short answer: the Aerobús (A1 from T1, A2 from T2) goes direct to Plaça de Catalunya in about 35 minutes for €7.75, every 5–10 minutes in the daytime and 24 hours a day. The metro L9 Sud needs a €5.90 Airport ticket and a change, and the R2 Nord train from T2 reaches Sants in 20 minutes, every 30 minutes. By car it is 14 km, about 23 minutes without traffic. Our private transfer costs €50 per car (1–3 passengers) and €80 per van (4–8).

Two Aerobús lines link the airport with Plaça de Catalunya: A1 serves Terminal 1 (stop on level 0, arrivals) and A2 serves Terminal 2. The service runs 24 hours a day, every day. From T1, A1 leaves every 5 minutes from 07:15 to 22:30 and every 10 to 20 minutes outside those hours; A2 leaves T2 every 10 minutes from 05:35 to 23:00 and every 20 minutes at night. The trip takes about 35 minutes, depending on traffic. A single ticket costs €7.75 and includes your luggage; children under 4 travel free.
Metro line L9 Sud starts at the Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 stations and runs every 7 minutes; TMB gives about 32 minutes from the airport into the city. L9 Sud does not reach the old town itself, so you change at Torrassa (L1), Collblanc (L5) or Zona Universitària (L3). Ordinary single tickets and the T-casual are not valid at the airport stations: you need the Airport ticket at €5.90 (2026 fare) or a Hola Barcelona travel card.
The Rodalies R2 Nord leaves from the Aeroport station at Terminal 2, one train every 30 minutes, and reaches Barcelona Sants in about 20 minutes, continuing to Passeig de Gràcia. Arriving at T1, take the free 24-hour shuttle bus between terminals to T2 first. Rodalies-only tickets are not valid on the metro or buses. Planned works occasionally suspend trains to the airport, so check Rodalies notices before you rely on it.
City bus 46 serves both terminals and runs to Plaça Espanya via El Prat and L'Hospitalet. At night the N17 links Terminal 1 with Plaça de Catalunya, and the Aerobús itself keeps running every 20 minutes through the night.
The road route is about 14 km via the C-31/C-32 or the Ronda Litoral and takes about 23 minutes without traffic; the Ronda Litoral slows down noticeably at rush hours. The Gothic Quarter and El Born are largely pedestrian or restricted, so a car stops on the nearest open street, such as Via Laietana.
