A private transfer from Bratislava Airport (BTS) to Bratislava costs €35 per car for 1–3 passengers and €50 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 14 km via D1; the drive takes about 20 min with clear roads, so plan on 20–30 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the public arrivals hall of the terminal, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Bratislava Airport (M. R. Štefánik Airport) lies inside the city limits, on the eastern edge of Bratislava, and the drive to the Main Square in the Old Town is about 12 km. The airport has a direct link to the D1 motorway by-pass, and the usual route runs west through the Ružinov district and along the eastern arteries towards the Danube embankment and the edge of the Old Town. Motorway sections in Slovakia require an electronic vignette. Weekday morning and late-afternoon traffic on the main arteries into the centre is the usual cause of delays.
The historic core of Bratislava is compact: the Main Square (Hlavné námestie) with the Old Town Hall and Roland Fountain, Michael's Gate, St. Martin's Cathedral and Hviezdoslavovo námestie are all within a few minutes' walk of each other. Most streets of the old core are pedestrian, so cars stop on the nearest street open to traffic, usually along its edge or by the riverside. Many hotels lie along the Danube embankment, around Eurovea and the Nivy bus station area, and in the streets just outside the old walls.
Public transport instead: Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB), IDS BK bus 61 (night: N61) from Bratislava Airport, stop on the approach road in front of the Departures terminal to Bratislava Main Railway Station (Hlavná železničná stanica), day line 61, night line N61.
