On arrival: The driver waits in the public arrivals hall of the terminal, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Devín is a borough at the western end of Bratislava, about 23 km by road from the airport on the opposite side of the city. The route crosses the city from east to west and then follows the road along the Danube through Karlova Ves to the village below the castle. The castle ruins rise on a rock above the confluence of the Morava and the Danube, where the rivers form the border with Austria. On sunny weekends the riverside road and the parking areas below the castle can be busy.
Devín Castle is a ruin managed by the Bratislava City Museum, with the slender Maiden Tower perched on a rock above the rivers, the remains of the upper castle and exhibitions in the lower courtyards. Cars stop in the village below the castle, from where a short walk leads up to the entrance. Nearby are the Gate of Freedom memorial by the Morava, a riverside path towards the Danube, and the Devínska Kobyla hill with walking trails. Opening hours are seasonal.
Public transport instead: Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB), IDS BK bus 61 (night: N61) from Bratislava Airport, stop on the approach road in front of the Departures terminal to Bratislava Main Railway Station (Hlavná železničná stanica), day line 61, night line N61. No direct public transport from the airport to Devín: bus 61 runs to Bratislava Main Railway Station, and the borough of Devín is served by city buses of Dopravný podnik Bratislava from the city centre (at least one change).
