Getting from Djerba Airport (DJE) to Aghir takes about 35 min by car on an empty road (35–50 min in heavy traffic) over 30 km. Our private transfer costs €35 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €50 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall (Hall des arrivees) of the Djerba-Zarzis terminal, after passport control, baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Aghir is the southern end of the Djerba tourist zone, on the east coast facing the open sea. The route crosses the whole island: east on RR 109 to Houmt Souk, then south-east via Midoun and down the regional road that links El Kantara with the tourist zone, about 30 km in total. Through Midoun the road uses town streets, which slows traffic on market mornings and in the summer evenings.
Aghir combines a small fishing harbour with a strip of hotels and holiday clubs along a shallow, turquoise bay, where wooden fishing boats are moored close to the shore. Hotels have their own entrances on the coast road, so cars stop at the door. North of Aghir lie La Seguia beach, the Djerba Explore park with the Lalla Hadria museum, and the Taguermess lighthouse. To the south the coast road continues towards El Kantara and the causeway to the mainland.
Public transport: There is no direct public transport from the airport to Aghir. The only bus listed by the airport operator OACA runs from the airport to Houmt Souk (1 TND, five departures a day); onward regional buses leave from the Houmt Souk bus station.
