Private transfer, Djerba Airport (DJE) to Zarzis: the car (1–3 passengers) is €45 and the van (4–8) is €65, a set price for the vehicle that does not change at checkout. Expect 60 km on the road via RR117; about 1h 5min off-peak, 65–85 min in rush hour.
Pickup: The driver waits in the arrivals hall (Hall des arrivees) of the Djerba-Zarzis terminal, after passport control, baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. The booking includes flight monitoring and an hour of free waiting from touchdown; your bags are loaded for you.
Zarzis is a coastal town on the mainland south-east of Djerba, reached by road over the El Kantara causeway, so no ferry is needed. From the airport the route runs to Houmt Souk on RR 109, then south on RR 117 through El May to El Kantara, across the causeway of about 7 km, and on along RR 117 to Zarzis, about 60 km in total. The causeway is a long, low road just above the sea, open to traffic day and night.
The Zarzis hotel zone lies along the beaches north of the town, between olive groves, palm trees and the sea, with hotels set back from the coast road on their own access roads. The town itself has a port, a small market area and a regional museum, and the Hassi Jerbi lagoon with its fishing boats lies on the way back towards the causeway. Zarzis is quieter than the Djerba tourist zone, and the beach season runs from late spring to autumn.
Public transport: There is no direct public transport from the airport to Zarzis. The only bus listed by the airport operator OACA runs from the airport to Houmt Souk (1 TND, five departures a day); onward regional buses leave from the Houmt Souk bus station.
