Getting from Geneva Airport (GVA) to Annecy takes about 55 min by car on an empty road (55–70 min in heavy traffic) over 54 km via A 41 and A1. Our private transfer costs €150 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €210 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the main terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name; the airport information desk is opposite the customs exit. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Annecy is in France, about 45 km south of the airport, at the northern end of Lake Annecy in Haute-Savoie. The drive takes the A1 around Geneva to the border crossing at Bardonnex and continues on the French A41 motorway towards Annecy. The A41 is a toll motorway, and the Swiss section of the route needs a motorway vignette. The border is part of the Schengen area, but checks can take place, so passengers should keep their identity documents at hand.
The old town of Annecy is a compact area of canals and arcaded streets along the Thiou river, with the Palais de l'Isle in the middle of the water and the castle on the hill above. Most of the old town is pedestrian, so cars stop at its edge, often near the town hall or the lakeside Pâquier lawn. The lake shore continues to Annecy-le-Vieux and to villages such as Talloires and Menthon-Saint-Bernard, where many hotels lie directly on the water. In summer the lake beaches and roads along the shore get busy.
Public transport instead: Regional coach operators coach direct coaches to Annecy from coach station outside the terminal, Arrivals level (follow the Coach Station signs) to Annecy. SBB CFF FFS + Léman Express train train to Genève-Cornavin, then Léman Express towards Annecy from Genève-Aéroport station to Annecy, 1 change. No direct train from the airport: rail passengers change at Genève-Cornavin for the Léman Express to Annecy. Direct regional coaches leave from the coach station on the Arrivals level.
