Lausanne from Geneva Airport (GVA) by private transfer: €180 per car (1–3 people) or €220 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 63 km via A1, roughly 1h when traffic is light and 60–75 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the main terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name; the airport information desk is opposite the customs exit. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Lausanne lies on the north shore of Lake Geneva, about 60 km north-east of the airport. The road joins the A1 motorway right next to the terminal and follows the lake through the vineyards of La Côte, past Nyon, Rolle and Morges, before leaving the motorway for the city. Swiss motorways require a vignette, which covers the whole A1. Traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings around Geneva and Morges, where many commuters use the same stretch.
Lausanne is built on steep slopes that drop from the Old Town down to the lake. The upper town around Place de la Palud and the Gothic cathedral has many pedestrian streets, while the main railway station sits halfway down the hill. At the bottom, Ouchy has a lakeside promenade, the boat landing for lake ferries and several large hotels, with the Olympic Museum a short walk east. Hotels in Ouchy and near the station can be reached directly by car, while the pedestrian lanes of the Old Town are not.
Public transport instead: SBB CFF FFS train direct trains towards Lausanne from Genève-Aéroport station (beneath the terminal) to Lausanne.
