On arrival: The driver waits at the Meet & Greet point in the public arrivals area of the terminal, after baggage claim and customs, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Postojna Cave lies south-west of Ljubljana on the Karst plateau, about 77 km by road from the airport. The route passes the capital on the ring road and follows the A1 motorway towards the coast to the Postojna exit, about 2 km from the cave park. Motorways in Slovenia require an electronic vignette. The A1 carries much of the traffic between Ljubljana and the Adriatic coast, so summer weekends and holiday departures can bring queues.
Postojna Cave is one of the longest show caves in Europe, and visits begin with an electric cave train that carries visitors deep into the karst before a guided walk through halls of stalactites and stalagmites. The temperature inside stays cool all year, so a warm layer is useful even in summer. Predjama Castle, built into a cliff face, is about 9 km from the cave entrance, and the cave park has its own large car parks.
Public transport instead: Arriva (public intercity bus, commissioned by DUJPP) bus Airport – Ljubljana city centre from Ljubljana Airport, bus station opposite Terminal A to Ljubljana main bus and railway station. Slovenske železnice (Slovenian Railways) train Ljubljana – Postojna (Ljubljana – Koper / Sežana line) from Ljubljana railway station to Postojna railway station (about 25 minutes' walk to the cave park, or local bus), 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Postojna Cave: bus to Ljubljana, then a train or intercity bus to Postojna and a walk of about 25 minutes or a local bus to the cave park.
