Getting from Luxembourg Airport (LUX) to Vianden takes about 50 min by car on an empty road (50–60 min in heavy traffic) over 53 km via A 7 and N 17. Our private transfer costs €160 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €230 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall on level -1 of Terminal A, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Vianden is a small town in the Our valley in north-eastern Luxembourg, on the German border, about 53 km by road from the airport. The drive leaves the capital by the Kirchberg junctions onto the A7 motorway, which runs north through the Alzette valley past Mersch to the Nordstad area of Ettelbruck and Diekirch. From Diekirch a winding country road continues through wooded hills to Vianden. Motorways in Luxembourg are toll-free; the last section is slower because of bends and village crossings.
The restored Vianden Castle stands on a hill above the town and the river Our. The old town climbs the slope below it along the Grand-Rue, with the house where Victor Hugo stayed in exile beside the bridge over the Our, and a chairlift runs up to a viewpoint above the castle. The centre is small and its streets are narrow and steep, so cars stop near the bridge or at the car parks along the river; the castle is reached on foot or by a short drive up the access road.
Public transport instead: Luxtram tram T1 from Findel - Luxembourg Airport to Hamilius / Gare Centrale, €0.00 single ticket, every 3 to 8 minutes (line capacity figure of the operator). CFL train line 10 Luxembourg - Ettelbruck (branch to Diekirch) from Luxembourg Gare Centrale to Diekirch, €0.00 single ticket, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Vianden: tram T1 to Luxembourg Gare Centrale, a CFL train north to Diekirch (via Ettelbruck), then a regional bus to Vianden; check the journey on mobiliteit.lu.

No. Vianden has no railway station; the nearest is Diekirch, reached from Luxembourg Gare Centrale by CFL trains via Ettelbruck, with a regional bus for the last part.
An access road leads up towards the castle from the town, and the old streets below it are narrow and steep, so many visitors park by the river and walk up.
