Getting from San Sebastian Airport (EAS) to Zarautz takes about 30 min by car on an empty road (30–40 min in heavy traffic) over 39 km via AP-1. Our private transfer costs €110 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €160 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area on the ground floor of the San Sebastián Airport terminal, after you leave the baggage reclaim hall, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Zarautz is a seaside town on the Gipuzkoa coast, about 39 km from the airport and some 20 km west of San Sebastian. The route crosses the whole Donostia area: the AP-8 from Irun, the GI-20 ring road around the city and the AP-8 again to the Zarautz exit, with tolls on the AP-8 sections. The free alternative is the GI-636 to San Sebastian and the N-634 through Usurbil and Orio. In July and August, and on sunny weekends, traffic builds at the town entrances and around the seafront.
The town is built along one of the longest beaches on the Basque coast, a wide sandy arc backed by the Malecon promenade and popular with surfers all year. The compact old town lies just behind the western half of the beach, around the church of Santa Maria la Real, the Narros palace and the medieval Luzea tower. Hotels and holiday flats are spread between the seafront and the centre, while the Euskotren station sits on the inland side. At the western end of the bay the coastal road continues towards Getaria.
Public transport instead: Lurraldebus (Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa) bus BI01, then UK10 (Donostia – Zarautz – Getaria – Zumaia, via AP-8) from Aeropuerto de San Sebastián, bus stop A to Zarautz, Nafarroa kalea 8 (Erdigunea / centre); change in Donostia at the bus station / Renfe Estación del Norte stop, BI01 about every 60 min; UK09, UK10 and UK11 together run several times an hour on weekdays (timetables October 2026), 1 change. Euskotren train E1 (Donostia Amara – Zarautz – Bilbao Matiko) from Donostia Amara station (reached from the airport by Lurraldebus BI01 to Donostia and a transfer across the city) to Zarautz station, see the official Euskotren timetable, 1 change. There is no direct public transport from the airport to Zarautz. The shortest combination is Lurraldebus BI01 to the Donostia bus station, then Lurraldebus UK10 (or UK09/UK11) from the stop by the Renfe Estacion del Norte to Zarautz; Euskotren E1 from Donostia Amara is an alternative for the second leg.
