A private transfer from Zurich Airport (ZRH) to Zurich costs €85 per car for 1–3 passengers and €120 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 14 km via A1L; the drive takes about 20 min with clear roads, so plan on 20–30 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrival hall your flight leads to, Arrival 1 or Arrival 2, after baggage reclaim and customs, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Zurich Airport lies in Kloten, about 12 km north of the old town, so this is one of the shortest airport runs in Switzerland. The usual road route follows the A11 airport motorway and the northern bypass towards Zurich-Nord, then drops into the city through Oerlikon or the Milchbuck area before reaching the Limmat river. Swiss motorways require a vignette, which applies to the airport motorway section. Weekday rush hours on the northern approach and around the main station can add several minutes to the trip.
Central Zurich spreads along both banks of the Limmat where it leaves Lake Zurich. On the west bank are the main station, Bahnhofstrasse with its shops and banks, Paradeplatz and the Lindenhof hill; on the east bank the Niederdorf lanes lead to the Grossmünster and Bellevue on the lakefront. Bahnhofstrasse is reserved for trams and pedestrians and many old-town lanes are car-free, so drop-offs are made at hotel entrances on open streets or at the nearest accessible corner.
Public transport instead: SBB train S-Bahn, InterRegio and InterCity trains from Zürich Flughafen station (Airport Centre) to Zürich HB (main station) — about 15 min, every 10 minutes.
