By Leonardo Express

The Leonardo Express runs non-stop between the Fiumicino Aeroporto station and Roma Termini in 32 minutes. Trains leave every 15 minutes; the first leaves the airport at 05:38 and the last at 23:27. A single ticket costs €14.00, and children under 12 travel free with a paying adult. Tickets are sold at the Trenitalia ticket office at the airport station (06:45 to 22:12) and in the self-service machines. Termini is the hub for metro lines A and B and for buses across the city.

By FL1 regional train

The FL1 regional line leaves from the same airport station and does not go to Termini: it calls at Roma Trastevere, Ostiense (for metro line B) and Tuscolana, reaching Roma Tiburtina in 48 minutes. Trains run every 15 minutes on working days and every 30 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. A single ticket costs €8.00. It is the better choice for Trastevere and the cheaper one for anywhere near its stations.

By car

The road route is about 38 km on the A91 Roma–Fiumicino and then into the city, and takes about 52 minutes without traffic; rush hours slow the A91 and the GRA ring road. The Centro Storico is a ZTL, a limited-traffic zone with camera-controlled gates, and the Vatican area and the Tridente are partly pedestrian. A rental car is a poor choice for the centre; a driver with a transfer stops at the nearest permitted street.

Where you meet the driver

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at, just after baggage reclaim and customs, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.

What to choose

With children, heavy luggage, a group of four or more, a hotel on a narrow lane in the ZTL, or a landing after the last train at 23:27: a private transfer to the door, priced per vehicle.
