Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is at Čilipi, 21 km south-east of the Old Town along the D8 coast road. The airport shuttle runs after every flight, a few local buses pass the airport, and a car takes about 33 minutes.
Short answer: the easiest public option is the Platanus airport shuttle: €10.00 one way, leaving about 30 minutes after each flight lands and reaching the Ploče Gate of the Old Town in about 30 minutes, then the Gruž bus station. Pile Gate is at the other end of the Stradun, so you walk through the Old Town or take a city bus. Libertas suburban buses also stop at the airport, but only a few times a day. By car it is 21 km, about 33 minutes without traffic. Our private transfer costs €50 per car (1–3 passengers) and €65 per van (4–8).

Platanus runs the official shuttle linked to the airport's flight schedule. The bus leaves about 30 minutes after every flight arrival, from the first flight of the day to the last, and is parked just outside arrivals near the main entrance, by a white post marked “Shuttle bus”. A one-way ticket costs €10.00 and a return €15.00; children under 6 travel free. Tickets are sold online and at the airport counter, not on board, and one suitcase is included. The bus makes one stop at the Ploče Gate of the Old Town (about 30 minutes) and ends at the Gruž bus station (about 35 minutes), 500 m from the ferry port. If you miss one bus, your ticket is valid on any departure that day.
The shuttle does not stop at Pile Gate. Ploče Gate is the eastern entrance to the walled Old Town and Pile Gate the western one, joined by the Stradun, the main pedestrian street. Inside the walls the streets are stepped in places, so with a large suitcase it can be easier to stay on the bus to Gruž or take a Libertas city bus round the outside of the walls. A city ticket bought on a Libertas bus costs €2.50.
Dubrovnik Airport lists Libertas suburban lines 11, 27 and 38 as the public buses serving the airport. They run between Dubrovnik and villages in Konavle, so departures are few: line 11 and line 27 each leave Dubrovnik three times a day, Monday to Saturday, and do not run on Sundays or holidays. Check the current Libertas timetable before you rely on them. Taxis wait in front of the arrivals building (terminal B). The airport says the taxi price list is posted on the notice board at the arrivals entrance, and drivers must give a receipt.
The airport puts the drive at 30 to 35 minutes on average, up to an hour in summer. The route follows the D8 Adriatic coast road, a single carriageway with views over the Elaphiti islands. The Old Town is pedestrian, so cars stop outside the walls near Pile or Ploče.
A private transfer Dubrovnik Airport → Old Town costs €50 per car for 1–3 passengers and €65 per van for 4–8 passengers. The driver drops you at the closest point a car may reach, near Pile Gate or Ploče Gate, or at your hotel in Lapad or Ploče.
Dubrovnik Airport → Old Town
Car, 1–3 passengers: €50 · Van, 4–8 passengers: €65
Dubrovnik Airport has one arrivals building (terminal B). Your driver waits in the arrivals hall, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, so a delay or a slow baggage belt is covered.
Travelling light: the Platanus shuttle at €10.00 is much cheaper than any car and runs after every flight, so it suits most visitors staying near Ploče or Gruž. Staying near Pile Gate or in Lapad with big suitcases: the walk across the Old Town or a second bus adds time. With children, a lot of luggage or a group of four or more, one van for €65 in total takes you to the nearest drop-off point without changes.
